I was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. My educational journey includes obtaining my Bachelor’s and teaching certificate from the University of Akron, followed by earning my Master’s in Educational Administration and Principal licensure from Cleveland State University. I also achieved my Ed Specialist License as a Superintendent.

 

With over 25 years of experience in education administration, I can honestly say that I’m still deeply passionate about fostering academic excellence, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. Beyond my professional endeavors, I cherish spending time with my wonderful wife, Kathy, our four awesome children Brittany(William), Ashley(RobertII), Carmen(Arnell), Harold Stafford II, and especially our four amazing grandkids, Robert III, Miyonne, Makenzie, and Monet. We’re a family that loves to worship together, travel, seek new adventures, and simply enjoy life with one another. Additionally, I also like to keep up with the new TV shows and sports. I enjoy staying abreast of latest developments in education, alongside seeking inspiration from the Holy Bible.

 

I am eager to share my vision for SMART Academy, emphasizing the core values that shape my identity as an educator and leader. First and foremost, I am committed to cultivating a community characterized by positivity, kindness, and inclusivity, wherein every scholar experiences a profound sense of belonging, safety, and support from the moment they enter our school. And it’s equally important that they carry that feeling with them when they leave at the end of each day.

Strengthening school-wide systems and processes are imperative, and I firmly believe that clear and open communication, collaboration, and shared decision-making will be at the core of our work. I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by educators at SMART Academy who are wholeheartedly committed to learning and growing in their professional practices. I’m devoted to offering our staff the support, resources, and professional development opportunities that they need to nurture and enhance their practices. Together, we will foster a scholastic environment characterized by equity, critical thinking, justice, and innovation. Finally, I’m a firm believer in the power of the student voice.

 

Our scholars are the lifeblood of our school, and it’s absolutely essential that their dreams, stories, cultures, and ideas are not just valued, but also nurtured and amplified. I’m firmly committed to empower our scholars to become active participants in their learning journey and to discover leadership opportunities within and beyond our institution.
